  1. Patti,
Rest in Peace sweet little girl! ❤️

  2. The One, the Only… Patti Dear
    The Fighting Pride of Lowell
    Miss Patti Baddywinkle
    Pat Riot! the Punk Weenie
    and…
    The Salem Halloweenie 🎃

    She goes by many names.
A little lady with the strength of 10 elephants.
A mighty Wonder Weenie whose courage could never fade.

She was absolutely fabulous and had a commanding presence, front feet popping up proudly when she barked. She’d even take to repeated howling into the air from the couch as we’d egg her on when it was time for Melissa to come home.

She’s left an indelible mark on so many, — especially those lucky enough to have been chosen as her soul family when the stork brought her to us that fateful day when our lives truly started. We were forever changed by this four-legged force of nature.

An incredibly vocal dachshund, her constant coos and gobbledygook expressed each separate emotion with clarity and a presence I’ve never felt with any other being on God’s green Earth.

Every noise was a question, every yip an assertion of dominance, a message intent on including us on her contagious and endless missions to find treats, stalk Melissa, or curmudgeonly twitching a snaggletoothed lip to nip at Halley’s annoying finger that was always playfully poked her way. Even when there were no teeth left to gnaw with, her adorable sideways tongue and long snout were so expressive, embodying just a piece of her true brilliance and character.
    Bless her pointed little head!

She loved songs and lullabies to be sung to her. It was the cutest thing I’ve ever seen. She liked people around her and would not do without. She made everything fun and interesting.

This brave little toaster would intensely stare in the direction of food or fall asleep next to the refrigerator, awaiting yummy food smells in her dreams with the scent of delicious Sicilian and American food wafting toward her, cooked fresh and specifically for her by her devoted chef Nonni. And boy, COULD SHE EAT!

She began her journey alongside us by looking up to and following Telemundo, learning how to be a dog, then going her own way, becoming obsessed and taking over.

She was the perfect combination of clingy and cuddly, impetuous and intelligent. In her retirement, she spent many a happy birthday eating organic shepherds pie alongside cousin Sully at her very own birthday parties where she’d often have Pattiwinkle fashion shows.

She’d act coy around other dogs (but loved seeing them all the same) and even tolerated kitty cats. She loved visits and going out to eat and short little changes of pace and scenery (as long as they didn’t involve a motor vehicle).

She taught us how to love with a true, focused kind of devotion, corralling us into line as the fierce Mama dog she was.
Who’s to know how many pups she gave light to and weaned in her youth. Who’s to know how many trials she endured, coming out stronger and with each and every one, emerging victorious.

Her championing through a dire cancer diagnosis for 5 full years was astounding even to the doctors who helped her along the way. She’d always brighten each veterinarian’s (and their students) day as she’d always dress to impress and charge her sweetness into overdrive when attending her many vet visits. She’d even come bearing gifts and custom stickers of her likeness.
She’s inked in the history books, for veterinary clinical trials and beyond, and became something of a phenomenon.

She was wild and feral as they come, but also mild as a cuddle-bug. She loved being free of clothing as much as wearing a little thermal t-shirt or two, so we’d always liberate her after snapping a quick photo. She’d always get to make the call about what she wanted and would most often get her way. She loved plopping down onto polar fleece blankets, burrowing into 100% cotton sheets and cuddling in between us each and every night and morning (as well as for little naps). She even paddled in the Atlantic Ocean in her shark life vest with us buoying her up, keeping her chin out of the water.

She wore little back feet socks over her toe beans up to her ankles to be in maximum comfort and cuteness, and you’d often find her all wrapped up and snuggled in or walking or charging around every corner with her little wobbly gait during playtime, — long skinny tail wagging all the way.

She hopped like a bunny rabbit, alternating her front paws back and forth as she ran, back legs bouncing behind. Everyone noticed and loved this. It was so unique and special, and she made it look effortless.

She was the supreme manual dishwasher, bestowing us and every plate of food with copious tongue kisses, licking Melissa’s face and arms off, cooing and finally utilizing her as a chin rest once she was satisfied with her work.

Godspeed, you wild and loving beast.
You’re both our daughter and our mother and we love you more than words can tell.
Thank you for finding us and for teaching us all about you.

    She was brave.
    She was beautiful.
She truly is the love of our lives.

    Here’s to you, Patricia!!!

Say “Hi” to Telemundo for us and we’ll meet you in the sky! We’ll never stop seeing your little face around every corner or right next to us, showing us the way every moment from now on as you always have.

You’re the boss of our hearts, always and forever.
    We miss you 😘 👹🐾🌹🦋🍗🍖
